Prisoner pilot Savchenko was 'already held by militants' at time of Russian journalist deaths (Video)
New video evidence shows Ukrainian pilot Nadia Savchenko was already a captive of Russian-backed militants at the time Russia says she directed a deadly mortar attack on two Russian journalists, according to Mark Feygin, Savchenko’s lawyer.
In an interview with the Ukrainian Channel 24, Feygin said that that Savchenko had been captured before the incident, Ukraine Today reports.
The video filmed by a militant - Russian citizen Yegor Russkiy, now the self-proclaimed mayor of insurgent-controlled Lutuhine in Luhansk region - shows the captured female pilot being blindfolded and interrogated.
The video evidence contradicts the claims of Russian prosecutors, as it was recorded two hours before the Russian journalists were killed, according to Savchenko’s lawyers.
Despite obtaining diplomatic immunity, being the MP of Ukraine’s parliament and being an elected member of the Council of Europe assembly, Savchenko remains detained in Russia and faces charges of being involved in the murder of two Russian journalists.
