Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov has resigned over the termination of the powers of the President of Ukraine.
"In connection with the termination of the powers of the President of Ukraine, who appointed me to the position, I ask you to consider the termination of my powers as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine in accordance with the legislation," Turchynov said in his letter of resignation, according to the NSDC's press service.

Turchynov noted that, "taking into account further armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, [he is] ready to serve directly in military service in any military unit or military formation and continue to defend our country."
The media posted a snapshot of Turchynov's letter of resignation. The document, dated May 17, 2019, was published by the Ukrayinska Pravda online newspaper in its Telegram UP.Off the record channel.
As UNIAN reported, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko appointed Oleksandr Turchynov to the post of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine in December 2014.
