Head of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's presidential administration Ruslan Riaboshapka has said the president of Ukraine decided to appoint former Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.

"This issue has already been decided. The decree has already been signed," he told a journalist, according to the LIGA.net news agency.

According to Riaboshapka, the decree on the appointment may be published before the end of the day.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on April 18, Zelensky introduced members of his team, including financial adviser Oleksandr Danyliuk.

UNIAN memo. Danyliuk has been in the public service since 2005. He was an adviser to former Prime Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov during Viktor Yushchenko's presidency, a freelance adviser to ex-President Viktor Yanukovych. In 2014, President Petro Poroshenko appointed Danyliuk as his permanent representative in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. In 2016, he was appointed Minister of Finance. In June 2018, he was dismissed – this was preceded by a conflict with Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman. Danyliuk is married, with two sons. Children are UK citizens.
