"Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is grateful to President of the United States of America Donald Trump for the invitation to make an official visit to Washington, D.C.," Ukraine's presidential press service said in a statement on June 1.
"The head of state also emphasizes that the bill on providing support to Ukraine to protect its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, which has been presented in the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress, is an important signal of strong strategic partnerships between the two countries," it said.
The document envisages increased support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the expansion of military assistance and the granting of the major U.S. military and political ally status to the country. The bill also expands the list of weapons that can be transferred to Ukraine.
However, the Ukrainian presidential administration has not specified the details of the upcoming meeting.
