President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Serhiy Deineko Chairman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

Decree No. 403/2019 of June 13 has been posted on the website of the head of state.

"Serhiy Vasyliovych Deyneko shall be appointed chairman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine," the document says.

Prior to his appointment, Deyneko worked as Deputy Director of the Operational Department at the Administration of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

In 2014, the official was a commander of the Luhansk border guard detachment in eastern Ukraine, leading the unit's defense efforts against the attacks by Russian-backed forces.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on May 31, Zelensky dismissed from top post in the agency Petro Tsyhikal, who had held the position from July 2017.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Sergey Deynek as the head of the State Border Guard Service. The corresponding decree, dated June 13, appeared on the Presidential Administration website on June 14.
