Following a joint visit by President of the European Council Donald Tusk and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Donbas on July 7, Tusk said the tragedy in eastern Ukraine continues with disastrous humanitarian consequences for the local population.

"Visited Stanitsa Luhanska today with President Zelensky. The tragedy in eastern Ukraine continues, with disastrous humanitarian consequences for local people trapped by Russia's war," he wrote on Twitter on July 7.

Tusk also added he had "good meetings with brave Ukrainian soldiers, the OSCE monitors and humanitarian agencies."

As UNIAN reported, Zelensky and Tusk on July 7 visited the village of Stanytsia Luhanska in Luhansk region, eastern Ukraine, to observe and hear a report on the security situation in the area of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO), following the disengagement of forces and weapons there.

In particular, they visited the command and observation post of the 8th company of the 25th separate airborne brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and debriefed the military of the current security situation in the JFO area.
