The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine says it hopes to see a thorough investigation into a recent attack on the office building of television Channel 112 with the use of a grenade launcher.

"Physical attacks against any journalists or any media outlets' offices are unacceptable. We hope to see a thorough investigation of the recent attack on 112's office," the Embassy said on Twitter on July 15.

As was reported earlier, a rocket-propelled grenade was been fired at the building that houses the Kyiv office of Ukrainian television Channel 112 in the early hours of July 13, 2019. The building's exterior was damaged; no casualties were reported.

The Ukrainian police are investigating the attack as an act of terror and have announced a special operation to detain the individual who fired the grenade.

A pretrial investigation into the case is being conducted by officers of the SBU Security Service of Ukraine.
