As early as 2020, the United States intends to open an office of its Drug Enforcement Agency, that's according to Ukraine's National Police.

The issue was discussed at a meeting of First Deputy Chief of the National Police, Vyacheslav Abroskin, and U.S. Embassy DEA Attaché in Warsaw Jason Schumacher, the National Police Communication Department reported.

As noted, Schumacher praised the existing cooperation with Ukraine's drug enforcement units that are part of the National Police. He also hailed the results of joint operations, according to the report.

Schumacher said the U.S. officials, including the diplomats stationed in Kyiv, are working hard to open a DEA office in Ukraine.

According to his estimates, the DEA office in Ukraine could start its work as early as 2020.

He said 92 DEA officers have been deployed to more than 70 countries.
