Ukraine's new parliament to hold first meeting on Aug 29
A ceremonial meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, of the ninth convocation and the first plenary session will take place on August 29.
The relevant decision was made on Friday at a meeting of a group of MPs engaged in preparations, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
Leader of the Servant of the People Party Dmytro Razumkov said the party had suggested holding the meeting on August 29.
In turn, leader of the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko parliamentary faction Artur Gerasimov spoke in favor of September 3, while MP from the Opposition Platform – For Life Party Serhiy Lyovochkin proposed holding the meeting on August 20.
The proposals were put to a vote in the order of submission and the participants in the meeting selected August 29.
