A total of 82% of Ukrainians would support the declaration of Ukraine's independence if today they had such a choice.

Only 12% have the opposite opinion, while another 6% found it difficult to answer, according to a survey conducted by the Rating sociological group.

Most of those who would support the declaration of independence of Ukraine are among the inhabitants of the west of the country (92%). At the same time, the number of the supporters is 85% in the center, 75% in the south, and 69% in the east.

Those who have the opposite opinion are among the population of the southeastern regions (from 20 to 23%). In addition, older people and the poor mostly opposed the declaration of independence of Ukraine.

The survey was conducted on August 7-12, 2019. The sample population is represented by age (18 and older), gender, type of settlement, and region. A total of 2,000 respondents were polled through individual, face-to-face interviews at respondents' place of residence. The margin of error does not exceed 2.2%.
