G7 Ambassadors express hope for release of other Ukrainian prisoners in Russia
G7 Ambassadors have expressed hope for the release of other Ukrainian prisoners in Russia.
"G7 Ambassadors welcome the release of 35 Ukrainian detainees and share the happiness of the Ukrainian people to see them back home. We congratulate the Ukrainian authorities on this achievement. We remember the remaining prisoners and expect their prompt release," the French Presidency of the G7 Ambassadors' Support Group in Kyiv wrote on Twitter.
As UNIAN reported earlier, 11 Ukrainian political prisoners and 24 captured sailors returned to Ukraine on Saturday as part of a long-awaited prisoner swap.
At the same time, 35 people convicted in Ukraine for various crimes or involved in criminal proceedings returned to Russia.
Following the arrival of Ukrainian citizens, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the first stage of ending the war in Donbas had been implemented.
