Moldovan Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu has said his country does not recognize and condemns the illegal "elections" in Russian-occupied Crimea.

Speaking at a press conference in Kyiv, he said this is his first visit to Ukraine as the head of the Foreign Ministry of Moldova, an UNIAN correspondent reports.

According to Popescu, during today's meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko, they discussed, among other things, issues of mutual support in maintaining the territorial integrity of both countries.

Popescu said Moldova wholeheartedly and unconditionally supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

He also said questions concerning the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict were raised during the meeting, as well as the illegal "elections" in occupied Crimea, which took place on September 8.
