EU Commissioner: EU expects Ukraine to reform

EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn said during a meeting with Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman said reforms in the legal field had to preceed those in other areas, according to the Web site of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

"We, like all Ukrainian society, look forward to the reform of the Constitution, the judicial system and prosecution, because any reform of other areas is impossible without the rule of law," Hahn said.

The EU commissioner said it was important that the Ukrainian parliament was "committed to the reform process" and took "a leadership role in the process of constitutional reform."
