EU leaders Donald Tusk and Jean-Claude Juncker express solidarity with Ukraine (Video)
European Council President Donald Tusk and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker were united in expressing solidarity with Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko at a joint press-conference on Monday marking the close of the EU-Ukraine summit in Kyiv.
According to Tusk, Europe “is determined to act, including sanctions, as long as Minsk agreement is not implemented. Fully implemented,” Ukraine Today reported.
Tusk also reaffirmed that international diplomatic efforts will be continued.
In turn, Juncker reconfirmed that the Free Trade Agreement between the EU and Ukraine is to be implemented on January 1, 2016, and any postponements are “not a good idea.”
Kyiv hosted an EU-Ukraine summit for the first time since former President Viktor Yanukovich was ousted following massive public protests against his rule in Ukraine.
