Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed his adviser on security and defense issues Ivan Aparshyn head of the Presidential Office's Directorate for National Security and Defense.

"Yes, that's true, I was appointed on October 18," Aparshyn told the Ukrainian media outlet TheBabel on October 20.

However, the document on Aparshyn's appointment has not yet been published on the presidential website.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Aparshyn won the competition for the post of head of the Directorate, having scored 20.04 points. Andriy Cherniavskyi with 16.5 points was the second.

During Ukraine's presidential elections, Aparshyn was a security and defense expert in Zelensky's team.
