The ruling Servant of the People faction in Ukraine's parliament has an unequivocal position that all occupied territories must return under Ukrainian government control and that any cooperation with terrorists and their accomplices is off the table, says MP Vitaliy Bezhin (SoP).

The deputy commented on the recent statement, which caused major public outrage, by his fellow party member Maksym Tkachenko, who is an advisor to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, regarding possible future cooperation with "officials" from the occupied territories, Obozrevatel reports.

"There are absolutely no such thoughts in our faction. We have a clear position that all occupied territories must return under Ukraine’s control, but cooperation with the people who are terrorists and their accomplices is off the table. And of course, our colleague didn't quite correctly express his thoughts, which sparked some speculation. However, he clearly stated that in the occupied territories there are patriots of Ukraine who have been supporting it but it's just that they found themselves in this situation. So it was about these citizens, not about the terrorists and their accomplices," the MP explained.

He added he did not see any possibility for those now collaborating with the self-proclaimed leaders of the so-called "LPR" and "DPR" to further cooperate with the new Ukrainian authorities.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the NSDC’s advisor on the reintegration and restoration of Donbas, Deputy Chairman of the Servant of the People party Maksym Tkachenko, said that one of the possible mechanisms for the formation of a new authorities in Donbas would be to attract professionals and "officials" who are already working on leading posts in the occupied territories.
