"The list includes prominent politicians, such as the current Chairman of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs Elmar Brok, active member of the European Parliament Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, former Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, famous author of Slovak reforms Mikuláš Dzurinda, well known economist Anders Aslund, and Andrius Kubilius, who  was the prime minister of Lithuania from 1999 to 2000 and again from 2008 to 2012," Saakashvili said.

According to Saakashvili, this is only the initial composition of the board, which will be expanded and updated.

"A great friend of Ukraine, former Polish President Aleksander Kwaśniewski, has expressed his desire to join the board. We also received agreement from U.S. Senator John McCain to participate in the council, and he has confirmed me this today during our conversation. However, he has yet to complete the official formalities according to the rules of the U.S. Congress," Saakashvili said.

"Several other prominent international figures are leading a dialogue with us about participation in the council. The main goal is to help Ukraine to reform with their practical advice and proactive support in the international arena," he said.

According to Saakashvili, the council will publish every two weeks a report on how the reform process is going on, about the achievements and, more importantly, on problematic issues.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on May 13 Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed a decree on the International Advisory Council on Reforms and its staff. According to the decree, Saakashvili was appointed head of the council.
