Avakov sacks acting traffic police chief involved in scandal

"Acting chief of Ukraine's traffic police Oleksandr Yershov has just left my office. He handed in his resignation, which I have accepted. An internal investigation in issues recently reported by mass media has begun," Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov wrote on Facebook late on Tuesday.

Yershov's name appeared in the press after reports that all members of his family, including the wife and two daughters, have got expensive cars worth about $100,000 each.

Journalists also reported that Yershov's tax declaration for the previous year didn't mention a luxurious three-storied private house in Kyiv.
