Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Volodymyr Yelchenko as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States.

The relevant decree of December 18 was posted on the president's website.

Yelchenko has been Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations since 2015. Prior to that, he was Ukraine's ambassador to Russia.

Yelchenko is replacing former Ambassador to the U.S. Valeriy Chaly. He and 10 other ambassadors were dismissed by a presidential decree on July 19, 2019.
