US Senator Durbin calls for increased financial support for Ukraine
The United States is "a reliable strategic partner" of Ukraine, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said during a meeting on Monday with U.S. Senator Richard Durbin, the press service of the head of state reported on Monday.

"We need the unity of the whole Western world," Poroshenko said.
The Ukrainian president also noted the assistance provided by the United States in various fields - improving the country's defense, the implementation of reforms, the fight against corruption, and the process of the de-oligarchization of the country.
Poroshenko also expressed special gratitude for U.S. assistance in training Ukrainian servicemen at the Yavoriv military range in Lviv region.
Senator Durbin, who is co-chair of the Subcommittee on Defense Committee on Appropriations of the Senate, said that he was calling for increased financial support for Ukraine, in particular, to strengthen its defense capability.
He also said that a newly created group in the Congress of the United States was actively working to strengthen support for Ukraine.
In addition, Poroshenko also thanked Durbin for the assistance provided to the Ukrainian diaspora.
Durbin, in turn, spoke of the great amount of activity of the Ukrainian diaspora in Chicago, Illinois, whom he represented in the Senate.
The president also expressed his gratitude for the adoption of the Ukraine Freedom Support Act by the U.S. Congress.
