Poroshenko pledges to restore ties with Donbas after Minsk fully implemented
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says that economic ties with temporarily occupied territory in Donetsk and Luhansk regions will be restored in the event significant progress is made in the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
"We want and are ready at any time to fully restore economic ties with the temporarily occupied territory in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, to lift all internal barriers and limitations [earlier imposed] on the movement of people and freight. But there is one condition: we will have to regain control of the external border as it is stipulated in the Minsk agreements. If not, there should be no complaints about checks along the line of contact... Until there is no progress in the Minsk Implementation Plan, the level of economic ties will remain at the current level," the president said at a meeting with activists of Donetsk region in Mariupol on Thursday.
