Vitali Klitschko, leader of the eponymous political bloc and honorable world champion boxer under the WBC division, has submitted documents to the Kyiv City Territorial Electoral Commission, to register as a candidate for the Kyiv Mayor post.
“I have just submitted the documents to the territorial electoral commission, I hope it will make its decision today, for us to start an active electoral campaign”, said V. Klitschko.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, he noted that, as of today, more than 150 applications were submitted for participating in the Kyiv Mayor election, though the real fight will be between only two candidates.
“Presently only one candidate can withstand the force of incumbent Mayor Leonid Chernovetskyi. Thus, there are two candidates”, said V. Klitschko.
He called upon all democratic forces to support the single democratic candidate, who enjoys the biggest rating and trust of Kyiv residents.
V. Klitschko underlined that considering the big number of candidates, running for the Kyiv Mayor post, the votes are drawn off, giving L.Chernovetskiy a chance to win the election.
Moreover, V. Klitschko believes that the Kyiv Mayor election should be held in two tours, in this case the leader of the Ukrainian capital may be elected by the majority of votes.
