Experts believe the appointment of Iryna Venediktova as Prosecutor General will affect the future of Ukraine.

"Unfortunately, all the four events whose impact on the future of Ukraine we asked to evaluate are rather negative in nature. Iryna Venediktova's appointment as Prosecutor General is definitely negative. Almost all experts agree that it will have a negative impact. The experts are even more unanimous in assessing the negative nature of this impact than in assessing the consequences of the coronavirus," political analyst at the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation Andriy Sukharyna said during an online conference, presenting the findings of a poll, an UNIAN correspondent reported.

According to the survey, the experts assess the formation of the government of incumbent Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal less negatively, but it is "rather negative."

"And, of course, the global coronavirus pandemic and the fall in stock markets, as well as [a drop in] crude oil prices are negative events. But, in addition to their negative nature, they also have a very powerful impact on the future of Ukraine," Sukharyna said.

The survey was conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation from March 26 to April 1, 2020. Some 58 experts were interviewed.
