Full-scale Ukrainian Marine drills held year after Russian takeover of Crimea
The Ukraine’s Marines corps, largely restored from scratch to a combat-ready brigade after the Russian annexation of Crimea, is back to conducting full-scale sea, land and air military drills near Ukraine's southern coastal city of Mykolaiv, practicing to capture the shoreline and destroy the enemy forces.
The Marines are preparing for any possible deployment, in particular, in the Mariupol area, according to Ukraine Today.
According to military officials, Ukraine's Navy is also on the path of rebuilding its fleet after Russia seized or destroyed many of Ukrainian vessels in Crimea.
