The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a resolution on the dismissal of Vassyl Maliarenko from the post of the Supreme Court of Ukraine chairman, on the grounds of his resignation.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, 291 MPs out of 309, registered in the parliament hall, voted for this.

Speaking in the parliament today, V.Maliarenko noted that, as he has been trying to remain fair and unbiased through all his life, he would like to say the truth today as well. According to him, he submitted his resignation due to complicated domestic and personal reasons, and he needs this summer period, but he could not take a vacation.

V.Maliarenko noted that the election of a new Supreme Court chairman is scheduled for September.

The speech of V.Maliarenko was accompanied with applauds of deputies.

V.Maliarenko had been heading the Supreme Court of Ukraine since 11 November 2002.
