The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU), the Interior Ministry of Ukraine, and the Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office set up 48 investigative groups to discover and fix attempts to bribe electors in the course of the election campaign in Kyiv.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, acting SBU head Valentyn Nalyvachenko claimed this at a press conference in Kyiv on Monday.

According to him, the investigative groups will work on May 18-25.

He also disclosed that the SBU discovered a number of schemes of bribing electors, the most dangerous being a scheme called “Babyloon”. Presently SBU probes into the activities of Ukrainian citizen Victor Medvedchuk, who as if ordered this scheme to Russian spin doctors.

According to V.Nalyvaychenko, as of today, more than 500 people connected with this scheme, including V.Medvedchuk, have been interrogated.

The SBU acting head also stressed that this criminal scheme of bribing electors is already used by the majority political forces that take part in the Kyiv elections.
