On Wednesday Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and International Integration Hryhoriy Nemyria participated in public EuroDebates organized by the European Business Association on the subject of “Half year of the Government of Democratic coalition: results and prospectives”, according to the government’s press-office.
During his speech Hryhoriy Nemyria stated that in its daily work the Ukrainian Government clearly adheres to the Action Program of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “Ukrainian Breakthrough - for people, not for politicians". “Working in circumstances of constitutional imperfection, the Government remains practically the only island of stability in the country. Thus, the Government sittings are regularly held, Government Committees’ activity is resumed during which decisions are approved in consensus,” he stressed.
Answering the critical statements from opponents concerning the Government’s elaboration and introduction of the policy of economic and social reforms Hryhoriy Nemyria noted: “I would like to use facts but not populist statements. The Government has fulfilled and keeps its election promises. Due to the successful measures of the Government of Ukraine we have completed a long process of Ukraine’s accession to the WTO that in its turn enabled us on 18 February 2008 to launch official negotiations with the European Union on the creation of a free trade area and hold two rounds of negotiations. Another confirmation – repayment of depreciated savings to the citizens of Ukraine, work on preparation of transparent public objects, efficient work on overcoming of obstacles for the investment activity in Ukraine, establishment of a dialogue “Power-Business” etc.
Among key priorities of the Government for the future prospect Hryhoriy Nemyria singled out the successful negotiations with the EU on the creation of a free trade area, judicial and pension reforms, fight against corruption, final overcoming of the inflation tendencies in the country.
