"From my point of view, Russia should be a predictable country. Until now nobody can predict how the situation will be developing in Syria, nobody can predict how the situation will be developing in Ukraine – that's why we should spend 5% of our GDP on our security and defense program just to build out effective armed forces, just to stop Russian aggression and not to make harmless Russia's unpredictability," he told Bloomberg TV on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Poroshenko also said that he doubts that there was a direct link between the present oil falling and Russia's capacity to engage in escalation in Donbas further.

"The less money Russia could spend on military expenditure, the better it is – better for Russia, better for the neighbors, and better for the whole global security," he said.
