Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko insists on consideration of namely the government’s variant of the draft law on amendments to state budget’2008.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, the Prime Minister claimed this to a press conference in the Cabinet of Ministers today.

“We discussed with the Verkhovna Rada Speaker the procedure and order of draft laws consideration. I’d like to stress once again, and I said this to the Verkhovna Rada Speaker, that only the government has right to introduce amendments to the state budget. No one else has any such right, in line with the Constitution and the Budget Code, and even in line with the Law on Ecological Emergencies”, she said, commenting on President’s submitting a draft law on budget amendments to the Verkhovna Rada.

The Prime Minister also informed that today she interrupted her participation in the government’s session in order to meet with the Verkhovna Rada Speaker Arseniy Yatseniuk and members of the parliament’s Budget Committee.

“The government has done everything stipulated by the law, and, without any doubt, only one draft law may be considered – that submitted by the government, because it was submitted in line with the Constitution and legislation”, Yulia Tymoshenko stressed.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on July 29, President Victor Yushchenko forwarded to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on introduction of amendments into 2008 budget aimed at dealing with results of the disaster in the western parts of Ukraine, according to the President`s press-office.

According to President adoption of the draft law will enable conducting urgent restoration works in the western regions of Ukraine that suffered from floods and storms, helping those, who suffered from the disaster and stabilizing the situation in the damaged regions.
