The adopted amendments to the Law "On Prosecutor's Office" stipulate that any citizen of Ukraine may be appointed for the post of Prosecutor General, who is a law graduate with work experience in the field of law, or work experience in legislative and/or law enforcement bodies of at least five years.

Earlier, the relevant article said that the nominee must have a law degree and work experience in the field of law of at least 10 years.

Thus, the Prosecutor General will be authorized to submit materials to the State Bureau of Investigation presented by the General Inspectorate.

In addition, according to the amendments, any citizen of Ukraine may be appointed for the post of the prosecutor of the regional prosecutor's office, who has work experience in the field of law for at least three years. Any citizen of Ukraine may become the prosecutor of the PGO, who has work experience in the field of law for at least five years.

The law shall come into force from the date of its publication.
