Socialist Party leader of Ukraine Oleksander Moroz claims he has never accused ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma of ordering the murder of journalist Georgiy Gongadze.
“I never accused Kuchma of ordering namely the murder of Gongadze. I`ve said in tens of interviews that those who showed L.Kuchma information in the advantageous for them light used peculiarities of his character”, O.Moroz claimed, the press-service of the Socialist Party of Ukraine said to UNIAN.
According to the Socialist leader, it is up to investigation to establish how, who, and what for, committed the crime. He is confident that the clandestine recordings, made by ex-Kuchma’s bodyguard Mykola Melnychenko in his cabinet, will shed light upon the case. According to O.Moroz, the authenticity of the recordings was proved long ago. “Recordings indicate: the honest and courageous journalist was killed by that-time power regime without assistance of any foreign secret services. And the incumbent regime keeps relations of mutual protection with the previous one, that is why the investigation is blocked”, O.Moroz claimed.
