The Presidential Secretariat believes that Ukraine still faces a risk of inflation growth.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, top deputy President’s Chief of Staff Oleksander Shlapak claimed this to a news conference on Thursday.

“The President is concerned about the showy tone of government’s reports”, he added.

According to him, despite the deflation recorded in July, there are still risks of inflation growth in Ukraine. In particular, speaking about such “inflation challenges”, O.Shlapak mentioned the growth of producers prices index that exceeded 34% in July compared to December of 2007.

Besides, according to him, despite government’s statements, the situation with refunding of the value added tax is still unresolved. Thus, the amount of arrears on the VAT refunding has remained practically the same since the beginning of the year, that is, it has not reduced.

As UNIAN reported earlier, a deflation at 0.5% was recorded in Ukraine in July.
