President dissatisfied with Ukrainian Army's financing

Speaking to mass-media after the military exercises in Rivne region, President Victor Yushchenko said that he is concerned about low financing of Ukrainian Military foreseen be draft 2009 budget, according to the President`s press-office.

He also said that current distribution of financing with 80 percent going for maintenance, 14 to 16 percent for exercises and only 5 percent at best for the development of the army is a wrong approach.

Beside that President expressed opinion the Government has failed to ensure proper financing of army`s transition to contract basis.

From his part President Yushchenko promised that as a President he would put all possible efforts in solving the problems Ukrainian military men face.
