Only factions may form a coalition in parliament.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, this is the ruling of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine that was issued on Friday, September 19, on the official inquiry of 105 members of parliament.

In particular, the Constitutional Court made conclusion that the wording “coalition of deputies factions in the Verkhovna Rada”, indicated in Article 83 of the Ukrainian Constitution, must be understood as a union formed on results of elections of several factions, the number of national deputies in which makes a majority of the constitutional number of the Verkhovna Rada. The union is based upon the decision of the factions to agree their political positions and to carry out joint parliamentary activities.
