The Ministry of Transport and Communication of Ukraine states that the Tu-134 plane by which the President was due to fly to Lviv on Thursday was in good order.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, deputy Transport Minister of Ukraine Oleksander Davydov claimed this to a press conference in Kyiv.

“The Commission keeps on working, but, as for the technical failures, to which the crew referred, this information was not confirmed. A special commission inspected all gears mentioned by the crew – everything appeared to be in good order”, A.Davydov stressed.

The deputy Minister also claimed that the Il-62 plane that had been prepared for the flight of Yulia Tymoshenko to Moscow, must not have been taken as a reserve plane for other flights.

According to him, the absence of a reserve plane was a rough violation of the procedure on preparing flights of governmental delegations.

“There was no reserve plane for the government. It is a rough violation of all main demands for such flights. This plane must not have been taken as a reserve plane for the President, and it was not considered a reserve plane”, he stressed.

A.Davydov emphasized that the airline leadership and the State Executive Office should be responsibility for the incident.
