President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko believes the democratic coalition has proved its inefficiency.

According to the President`s press-office, the President claimed this at a meeting with the Our Ukraine  - People’s Self-Defense faction on Tuesday.

In the beginning of the meeting, he voiced his assessment of the developments in the Verkhovna Rada on September 2, calling them a national treason.

“It was an acid test, and every MP of the faction passed it”, the President described the situation in parliament, when all the developments proposed only one way out – the collapse of the democratic coalition with forming a new coalition.

The President noted that the scenario, which was inspired from abroad, was aimed at an “about-face of the national course”.

Victor Yushchenko called on his faction to unity and team work.

Speaking about the destiny of coalition, the President recalled that the previous democratic coalition appeared inefficient in the current political situation, because “the plan developed against Ukraine was much more valuable for them than the talks on agenda of parliament, the Georgian issue, and the Black Sea fleet”.

According to the President, the democratic coalition could not prove its efficiency due to position of one of its sides. “Over the nine months, the coalition, which vowed to nation to adopt 245 laws to implement its ideology and priorities, managed to adopt only 11”, the President said.

“30 days have passed. During all these 30 days, nobody knocked at our door. But I did not even wait”, the President commented on the negotiations process.

He recalled that he gave opportunity to hold talks not only during the period of 30 days, which is stipulated by the Constitution, but even more. “I believe, we may now turn the page with dignity and honor, and to speak further about the Ukrainian democracy”, the President said.
