The Central Electoral Commission of Ukraine legally prolonged the period of registration as a lawmaker till 1 December for Kyiv Mayor Leonid Chernovetskiy.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, CEC chairman Yaroslav Davydovych claimed this to a press conference in Kyiv today.
“The law does not determine strictly the bounds, procedures, and bases for prolonging the period of lawmakers registration”, he stressed.
“CEC decided that there were grounds to prolong the registration period as we received documents, confirming that the Appeal Court will examine the case on the Kyiv Mayor elections on 16 November”, the CEC chairman noted.
He added that L.Chernovetskiy will have an opportunity to decide his further status after the legal process terminates.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on 29 August CEC prolonged the period of registration as a lawmaker till 1 December for Kyiv Mayor Leonid Chernovetskiy.
