Face-off in Verkhovna Rada

Lawmakers try to hamper voting

Party of Regions and BYuT factions members have blocked the entrance to the room where “Rada” voting system mainframe is situated.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, nearly 30 MPs, including Party of Regions MPs Andriy Klyuyev, Nestor Shufrych, Oleksander Volkov, Elbrus Tedeyev, and others, and BYuT MPs Vitaliy Chudovskiy, Serhiy Mishchenko, Yevhen Suslov, Oleksander Shepelev, block the room.

Verkhovna Rada employees have dismantled the broken doors of the room.

At the same time, BYuT lawmakers are doing their best to prevent voting on the draft legislation to oust the Speaker. Top Deputy Speaker Oleksander Lavrynovych (Party of Regions), who chairs the plenary session, tried to put the draft legislation for voting. It stipulates to oust the Verkhovna Rada Speaker over a voting in the session hall and not through a procedure of secret voting, as stipulated by the parliamentary regulations.

Earlier BYuT and Party of Regions lawmaker penetrated into the room with parliament’s mainframe, scuffled there and broke the glass screens and door of the room.
