President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko calls on the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to focus on overcoming the economic crisis.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, he said this at a meeting with Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn on Thursday.

Victor Yushchenko once again congratulated V.Lytvyn on his electing as the Verkhovna Rada Speaker, and expressed a hope that it will be an important step for organizing the parliament’s work.

“The situation is very complicated in a political sphere as well as in the economical one. The most important that all of us should focus on is the overcoming of the economical crisis”, the President stressed.

Victor Yushchenko emphasized that the parliament should work for at least two weeks in a plenary regime till the end of the year, to adopt the state budget for the year 2009, and the anti-crisis legislation.
