Mass strikes will start in Ukraine on December 17.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, Party of Regions faction deputy leader Oleksander Yefremov claimed this at a session of the Conciliatory Council of parliament on Monday.
According to him, the parliament should press the government to submit for consideration an anti-crisis program or, at least, a program of social-economic development of the country.
In the opinion of O.Yefremov, the current economical situation in Ukraine may be called a catastrophe. According to him, the industrial production level fell by 28.6% in November compared with November of the year 2007, and in some branches – even by 48-60%.
In his turn, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn noted that politicians should be very careful with statements about “catastrophes and strikes”.
According to him, political forces representatives should not forget who are owners of Ukrainian enterprises. V.Lytvyn pointed out that namely the owners did not upgrade their enterprises and do not pay salaries to their employees. In the opinion of V.Lytvyn, as a result of strikes, the situation may just get worse.
