President’s Chief of Staff Victor Baloha states that President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko will not sign the state budget for the next year if it does not stipulate expenses for a snap parliamentary poll.

According to the President`s press-office, V.Baloha also noted that economics must become another unifying priority for forming a new coalition in the Verkhovna Rada.

V.Baloha assessed the current situation in the Verkhovna Rada as follows: “The recent developments in the Verkhovna Rada have just provoked waves of political statements and speculations, but have not even outlined the frames of the parliament’s agenda to solve the pressing problems of state”. According to him, last week they just elected the Verkhovna Rada Speaker, but the coalition was not created neither by formal not by real parameters.

“The current union in Rada – in fact, is an arithmetic sum of deputies’ votes, including that of incompatible factions – it’s only situational. It’s a kind of lawmaker’s club of interests. It cannot form a basis for newly elected Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn until it announces about its joint aims that will determine the state and character of the new coalition’s activities”, V.Baloha said.
