"Ukraine takes on new important responsibilities at UN Security Council as of today – it will chair the Council in February. At the UN, we will continue using every opportunity to defend Ukraine against Russia's military aggression," Poroshenko tweeted.

As reported earlier, Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Volodymyr Yelchenko will take over as chairman of the UN Security Council. The chairmanship will last for a month.  The Council's work program for the coming period will be approved in the near future.
