Kremlin: Escalation in Donbas "reason to restart" Russia-U.S. cooperation
The Kremlin has said that the escalation of the conflict in Donbas is another reason for the "restoration of dialogue and cooperation" between Russia and the United States, including in order to "untie the Ukrainian knot," Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists, according to an UNIAN correspondent in Russia.
"The situation in Ukraine is causing extreme concern. The Ukraine settlement has not been discussed during a [phone] conversation between Putin and Trump, but the need for an early settlement of the Ukrainian crisis was highlighted," he said, answering the question whether the Kremlin is concerned that an escalation in eastern Ukraine could harm the establishment of Russian-U.S. relations.
