Deputy President’s Chief of Staff Ihor Pukshyn demands explanations from Top Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksander Turchynov concerning his statement about the situation in Ukraine, voiced on February 6 at a session of the Interior Ministry’s board.

According to I.Pukshyn’s commentary, posted at the official web site of the Ukrainian President, “the society is alarmed with the statement of Top Deputy Prime Minister Turchynov, voiced by him at the recent session in the Interior Ministry, in presence of almost a hundred directors of the central machinery and regional departments of the Interior Ministry”.

“On the one hand, the Prime Minister states at government sessions, especially in front of TV-cameras, that everything is all right, the situation is under supervision of government, and on the other – citizens get to know from mass media that the Top Deputy Prime Minister said to Interior Ministry employees at a closed session that Ukraine “is nearing a tragedy under conditions of hostilities”, I.Pukshyn said.

“The excuse of this statement proposed by a BYuT speaker killed me on the spot – they say, the Turchynov’s statement was not meant for press”, the deputy President’s Chief of Staff noted.

“The Tymoshenko’s government is working on double standards and has already got confused with its own “variants of truth” about the situation in Ukraine. One version, prepared for press, is based on populism. And another is for closed circles, and really describes the situation as it is”, I.Pukshyn stressed.

“Considering all these conditions, the Top Deputy PM should explain to society against who he is going to deploy the announced “seat of war”, the deputy Chief of Staff emphasized.
