Malta can become powerful maritime hub for Ukraine: Poroshenko
Malta can become a hub for Ukrainian agribusinesses to supply products to North Africa and open new opportunities for the Ukrainian steelmakers, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said during a state visit to Malta, speaking at a joint press conference with Maltese President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, according to the Ukrainian president's press service.
Poroshenko also said Ukraine was willing to launch an Antonov aircraft design bureau's office in Malta, the press service reports. The President especially underlined the importance of interpersonal contacts that are currently being facilitated.
Mr Poroshenko noted that the signing of a package of agreements during the visit will open “wonderful opportunities for students, youth, cooperation in the sphere of sports and business”.
Petro Poroshenko said that the Ukrainian delegation brought a whole range of offers as regards Ukraine-Malta joint business projects in various spheres. According to the President, settlement of the issue of double taxation between the two countries opens new opportunities for the further enhancement of trade and investment cooperation with Malta.

In turn, President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca said: “Our countries have huge opportunities to develop entrepreneurship in various spheres, in particular infrastructure and maritime transport.”
At the same time, she drew attention to the opportunities of cooperation between Ukraine and Africa, with Malta playing the role of a powerful maritime hub.
