Employees of the Kherson Machine-Building Plant (KMBP) occupied the ground floor of the Kherson Oblast State Administration and the Oblast Council.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, nearly 500 employees of KMBP came at 9.00 a.m. on Monday to the Oblast Administration building in the center of Kherson and demanded to meet with the Oblast leadership to solve the problem of arrears on their salaries.
A part of picketers, nearly 200 people, were invited to the small hall of the Oblast State Administration to meet with Kherson Oblast governor Borys Sylenkov. The governor said to the KMBP employees that the administration has already done its best and now it is up to the government to solve problem.
After the conversation, angry people refused to quit the building. Leonid Nemcheniuk, head of “Petrovets” independent trade union, said to UNIAN: “We occupied the ground floor of the administration and we will keep it until they fulfill our demands: pay out arrears on salary and resume the enterprise`s operation”.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the arrears of Kherson Machine-Building Plant to its employees make 5.5 million hryvnias. The employees have been protesting since February 3.
