President’s Chief of Staff Victor Baloha states that it is only up to the government to cut salaries to state officials.

According to the President`s press-office, V.Baloha said that the government may pass the respective decision at its nearest session.

“To cut budget expenses on state officials salary, they do not need at all to perform any political shows”, the Chief of Staff stressed, commenting on the statement of Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who announced about her intent to cut salaries to higher state officials.

“To significantly cut the monthly salary to officials, first of all, to those working in central power bodies, they need just to introduce amendments into resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers, which establish amounts of salaries for higher categories of state officials. It is only up to the government, which may vote for these decisions at its nearest session”, V.Baloha pointed out.

He added: “The Cabinet of Ministers is able to cut its salaries itself, it does not need any help in this sphere”.
