Serhiy Tigipko may head the Labor Party of Ukraine and take part in the presidential elections.
According to Kommersant-Ukraine daily, referring to its own sources, the political council of the Labor Party of Ukraine (LPU) has intent to recommend the party session to elect S.Tigipko as head of the party.
The newspapers’ sources assert that as soon as S.Tigipko heads the Labor Party, he will announce about taking part in the presidential election. In the opinion of experts, his participation in the presidential campaign will play into the hands of Yulia Tymoshenko, who will be able to seize in such a way a part of votes from her main competitors – Party of Regions leader Victor Yanukovych and Front of Changes leader Arseniy Yatseniuk.
At present, S.Tigipko is an advisor to the Prime Minister and a co-chairman of the Council of Investors at the Cabinet of Ministers.
