The Ukrainian Presidential Secretariat will appeal against the ruling of the District Administrative Court of Kyiv, which declared illegal the President’s decree on dismissal of Svyatoslav Piskun from the post of Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

Ruslan Kyrylyuk, head of the lawyers service for representing President’s interests in court, said this, according to Kommersant #72(893) dated April 27, 2009.

“It was a regular political decision of the district administrative court. Of course, we will appeal against it”, he said.

In his turn, Justice Minister of Ukraine Mykola Onyshchuk stressed he would not hurry to make conclusions concerning the legal consequences of the court’s ruling on Piskun, because it was a ruling of the court of a first instance.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on April 24, 2009, the District Administrative Court of Kyiv has declared illegal the decree of President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko of May 24, 2007, #469/2007 “On Declaring Invalid President’s Decree of April 26, 2007, #357”. The decree of April 26, 2007, reinstated Svyatoslav Piskun on the post of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

S.Piskun’s spokesman Dmytro Ponamarchuk has disclosed this to UNIAN.

On April 26, 2007, President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko reinstated S.Piskun on post of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, to implement the ruling of the Shevchenkivskiy district court of Kyiv.

At the same time, on May 24, 2007, Victor Yushchenko signed decree #469/2007 “On Declaring Invalid President’s Decree of April 26, 2007, #357”.

S.Piskun appealed against this decree in court.
