Ukraine has been elected a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for 2018-2020, according to the country’s Permanent Mission to the UN.

“By 177 votes Ukraine was elected to the UN Human Rights Council for 2018-2020," it was reported,” the Mission wrote on Twitter late Monday.

It is noted that Ukraine’s participation in the Council will provide Ukraine with additional opportunities to continue its fight against human rights violations in the occupied territories.
